Client is in the chair.....What are these weird TRAINING lines?

Hey! So, here's the example: you have a client in the chair, protocol selected, electrodes on, audio/screen fading set... everything is set up/ready so you start the training session.....and you start getting some crazy looking lines for training!

As a clinician/technician you have to act fairly quick before the client may start getting agitated or struggle to relax depending how long it takes the problem to be resolved... and potentially, they have to leave without their training session being done :( (which can be refunds, rescheduling, lost trust from your patient, and potentially a lost patient entirely)

So, below is how notice what may be happening and how to handle that.

Does it look like your lines almost look wider/wilder/moving maybe a bit faster than normal?

Below are examples of different ways the active training may look like:

Channel 1 vs Channel 2 Failure: The issue will stay on the side of the Channel failure. You can also check Spectral to confirm. You'll change Frequency to 70Hz and anything over 50Hz is interference, if it only shows on one channel versus both channels - it's that specific channel needing to be swapped, examples of both below.

REFERENCE/EAR CLIPS: If they're both crazy OR completely flat lines for Channel 1 and Channel 2, click Session Settings and click UNLINKED - whatever side stays flat OR sporadic is the bad ear clip, the set SHOULD be thrown away though since they're bundled together

Ground issues: Whether you click linked or unlinked, the lines on Channel 1 and Channel 2 are straight up and down, nothing will switch the wild lines

Electrical Interference: Typically, electrical looks a bit more chaotic than the images above.
Step 1: You'll want to click "Spectral" and then change Frequency to 70Hz, confirm its Channel 1 AND Channel 2 above 50Hz, if both are above 50Hz > go to step 2.
Step 2: Click Session Settings and switch to UNLINKED - IF THAT DID NOT drop the Spectral below 50Hz for Channel 1 OR Channel 2, go to step 3.
Step 3: Unplug EVERYTHING in the room that's connected to a power source: Extension cords, laptop cord, lamp cord, surge protectors, TV Cord, Diffuser Cord, make sure smartphones and smart watches aren't on or near by. Once EVERYTHING IS UNPLUGGED - did Spectral drop before 50Hz on Channel 1 and Channel 2? If not go to step 4.
Step 4: If EVERYTHING is unplugged in the room, all wall sockets are empty, what's in the immediate rooms next to your office? Outside the office is the air conditioner running? Do you hear the Fridge humming in the break room? Do you have fluorescent lights on? Do you use any PEMF lasers, PEMF mats? Those could be releasing any loose energy even if they're a room away - Neurofeedback will pick up as little as 1-3Hz of energy, so it's important to ensure EVERYTHING that could possibly be plugged in is unplugged or removed from the immediate area to ensure accurate trainings.

***NewMind recommends EVERY clinic have an extra pair of, new still in the bag/never opened, electrodes on standby. You can also purchase 4-channel electrodes versus 2-channel electrodes if you want to have extra extra back up Channel 1 and Channel 2, Channel 3 and Channel 4 electrodes can be used as Channel 1 and Channel 2 for training.
